Understanding Active Ingredients in Skincare: Niacinamide, Retinol, and Vitamin C

Understanding Active Ingredients

Active ingredients can transform your skin when used correctly. Three popular options are niacinamide, retinol, and vitamin C.

1. Niacinamide

Niacinamide helps with redness, uneven tone, and excess oil. It is generally gentle and works well for most skin types.

2. Retinol

Retinol supports collagen production and speeds up cell turnover. Introduce it slowly at night, 1–2 times a week, to minimize irritation.

3. Vitamin C

Vitamin C brightens the skin and provides antioxidant protection. Use it in the morning under sunscreen for best results.

Always patch-test new actives and avoid adding too many at once to prevent sensitivity.
